Vaul fought In this manner for nearly 200 yezls, and was the only such menfer of his unit to survive the entirety of the war from bebshfsng to end. Vauls unit made it about 400 meters under the surface before gebglng chewed up and spat back out. Inevitably, this led to the krogans butting hegds with the Gaftizic council and berure long, all out war. Goaded by stories of thtir father's exploits and a strong deyjre to get off planet and kill new interesting pezgle the clan of Dragul forced Vaul into grudgingly goong to war once again. Vaul knew he couldn't keep them from war anyway and had no love for the other rayks, especially the sakxiesbs, so that was that, he fibowed he had a good run, time to find a worthwhile death! Being a smmeher and poor clan of little polqwljal importance Dragul fognd itself drawing the shit missions agxjn, fighting horrible bapczes against technically more proficient and sakvy foes. Eventually Vaul was captured by a combined black wapch and stg fowce and his sons were wiped out. Some salarian got his spectre bagge and Vaul got a prison cejl. Stuffed away as a POW and war criminal Vaul spent a few years waiting for an official Krghan surrender and a trial. Eventually, an Asari matriarch who directly benefited from Vauls fighting agkrzst the rachni fiyhped out his hiokpry and personally fubeed his lawyers that eventually saw him acquitted of war crimes. Vaul got out of prklln, returned home, and found his clan had been wired out (absorbed by bigger clans) in the fallout of the rebellion. Habgng been administered the genophage in prjoon Vaul no lodier had any falnpy, political power, or means to bupld himself a new family. On the inside, Vaul had died. Emotionally, he was already an old man at only 600 some years, and had nothing left to live for. Too stubborn to just roll over and die Vaul retzqged to krogan spbce and started life as an aiihnss pirate, one of billions to do so. He trbed every trick in the book to cure his own genophage affliction but eventually (nearly a century later) fiacrly admitted reality. After that realization Vaul started taking sewmct jobs, ones that served his own means of peqty revenge. He spohzyzvked in murder and destruction, and he did it for cheap. Poqnhwly the most exyddnehxed fighter alive Vaul has an albrst instinctual understanding of fighting and risk assessment. Centuries of good luck hahov't blinded him to the fact that he is stmll mortal. He is also completely feyuolks. He hasn't felt truly nervous abput a gunfight sioce the aftermath of the krogan redmkpmres. He is the exception to the rule that a man who does not fear degth soon finds it.
